Faith was born Gamuchirai Maroma in 1980 in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. In 2006, at 26 years old, Faith made the difficult decision to leave her family in Zimbabwe and move to South Africa, seeking independence and new challenges.

A leap of Faith
Having always loved the hospitality industry, Faith headed for Cape Town where she did a hospitality course in which she excelled. In her hunt for a job, she stumbled upon the doors of GOLD Restaurant where she left her CV. Three days later she was called for an interview and hired on the spot. GOLD Restaurant in Cape Town has been her home since then. She has worked in many roles at GOLD, currently you can catch her behind the bar as the manager.
Working at GOLD Restaurant
Faith says that her favourite thing about working at GOLD is the love and warmth that the team has for each other. She also loves learning all about the different cultures from all over Africa from her colleagues. She says, “GOLD Restaurant is my second home. It feels like the whole of Africa in one place.”
Her favourite African cuisine
When asked about what she loves to eat at GOLD, Faith says, “I love the entire GOLD menu because of the different infusions of spices. The one dish I enjoy the most is the spiced tomato soup. I always make this now, even at home.”
